Avoid Harmful Substances

Avoid Harmful Substances

With regular consumption of fish, you should also be mindful of the content of heavy metals and other harmful substances, e.g. from organic chemicals like solvents, softeners or transformer oils.
Particularly long-living predatory fish that are high up on the food chain can amass greater amounts of heavy metals and should therefore only be eaten in moderation.
In contrast, the following are very safe:

  • Sardines
  • Mackerels and
  • North Atlantic Herring

as they are used, e.g. by hypo-A.
With the extraction of valuable salmon oils or fish oils, resources should be chosen from a fishing area with the lowest possible pollution level and the oil should be inspected for residues.
