Gianna Regenbrecht in conversation:

How did you come to hypo-A?

My mother works in a dentist's office - they work a lot with hypo-A nutritional supplements. After the accident, Mom called Peter-Hansen Volkmann and asked about the best support for me. While I was still in the hospital, I started taking hypo-A micronutrients. I firmly believe that if I hadn't taken Hypo-A back then, I wouldn't have achieved what I can today.

When did you know that riding was your sport?

My grandfather was a horse person. Because of his escape from East Prussia, horses were not an issue for a long time. He later realized that he could spend his time with his granddaughter with the horses, and it took off from then on. I sat on a horse for the first time when I was five. Grandpa passed on his love of horses to me.

What drives you?

Two big things. On the one hand, the ambition to be independent. To show: wheelchair? That's no problem! I would like to be a motivating role model for those who have experienced something similar or the same as me. On the other hand, success in sports. Parasport is developing and becoming more and more professional. I want to take part in the big competitions – championships, world championships, Paralympics.

Why do you use nutritional supplements from hypo-A?

The nutritional supplements from hypo-A made me feel well supported in pain situations. Especially for nerve pain. That was also my aha moment – there are such great ways to help the body without chemicals. Today I know my body much better, listen to it more and, for example, if I know that I will be on the move a lot or have strenuous training sessions coming up, then I take hypo-A to support myself and to avoid gaining weight in the first place come.

How do you feel physically when taking orthomolecular drugs?

Very good! Many people often ask me how I manage and balance studying, riding and running training. Without nutritional supplements my body would also go on strike. But I'm at my best and my body can take it. Even if I notice that my body no longer utilizes food well, I specifically take micronutrients and take care of my intestines. I react early - the bottom line is that it's a lot of prevention.

Your best fitness tips?

In my particular case, with everyday life in a wheelchair, I need strong ones shoulders and arms. They are best trained on my daily walk with my dog. Also, of course, ride a horse - the sport demands the whole body. For less gravity and stress on the joints, I recommend swimming.

What sporting goal do you really want to achieve?

My biggest goal is Paris in 2024 to ride at the Paralympics! I'll give everything for that.

Your life motto?

Giving up is not an option! I proved that after the accident and I still do that today. In addition, everyone should decide for themselves what their limits are, because people can tolerate different things. For example, I traveled through Cambodia with my boyfriend for 3 weeks. Those around me thought it wouldn't work. It was a fantastic vacation and I had incredible fun.

Quote Wiebke Ivens

"When Gianna's mother called us, I happened to answer the phone. I can still feel the shiver on my spine and the feeling of my throat tightening at the story. Of course we did everything we could to that Gianna received the best support we could offer her as quickly as possible. Since that phone call, I have felt particularly connected to Gianna. When I see her today, I am very grateful, this great, determined, strong, but above all fun-loving young woman to be able to know and support her! I admire her for everything she does and I like to use her as a role model for myself, because without her positive energy she wouldn't be where she is today!"
